This works with most mushrooms, although some give 'interesting' results Sautee some Agaricus augustus (the Prince) until soft and you've not got too much water, with a little salt and pepper. Put in a blender, and zuzz it up to a puree. Take it out and mix in some cream cheese - Philadephia is superb. And then put it in a dish, let it cool, and refrigerate. With A. augustus this is super made really simply. With other species you might want to make some changes - horse mushrooms are good with a little garlic and onion added, pink cracking boletus make a greenish pate and they can be a bit wet so need maybe some breadcrumbs added... But this basic recipe can be adapted adding whatever you choose. But you'll never make a better pate than you will A. augustus!

If I could find me some Augustus I'll give this a go. Much as I'm a massive fan of cooking my mushies simply with some eggs, variety is the spice of life.
