At the moment Foraging UK is a blank slate. While I'm happy to arrange the boards etc in my own way I thought it would be much better to make this a group effort. That way we should have something we're all happy with going forward.
So my first question: What boards do we want on the forum?
I've currently split it as you can see to a Welcome, a Wild Food and a Community. Does anyone have any thoughts on adding more of these groups? Within the groups there can be sub boards. I was thinking of putting a few different ones under Wild Food, such as Foraging, Mushrooms, Fishing (which could include shellfish etc), maybe one for recipes for foraged items
Rather than a massive post I'll leave it at that for now and see what the thoughts are on structure first.

think there should be a Photo ID board, where people post photos for identification, keeps it all in one place then. maybe a mushroom/fungi sub forum.

Rather than fishing have seashore, can cover fish, shellfish, seaweeds etc...

Seashore added to the ID section.
What are people's thought's on the General Wild Food forum for talking about anything? Do we want this split out in to sub forums for the various areas, or are we assuming that a forager likes foragy things regardless of which "genre" it is?
Also, I'm considering having the Swap Shop (the original idea which spawned the forum) which is purely for gifting goods or swapping items, no money involved type things, but adding a trading board for people who have second hand gear etc to sell. Think we should or do you think that we should steer clear of letting anyone sell anything on here full stop?

I think a trading board is a great idea. I think a selling place is also a good idea but we can suck it and see

I am a great believer that free food should be free! That being said there are some very gifted people who sell there produce for a living and have had to comply with any laws surrounding retailing and I'm all up for those people being able to sell there goods to all , it's a hard one as a lot of thought will be needed to sort this I'm also quite aware that making people traders as a member will be needed and to be checked out by admin pouring more work on Scott .. But it's probably an inevitable necessity for the forum as it does seem to be a standard thing I would suggest traders could sell food stuff but any member can sell non foods understanding the forum has no responsibility Claus as problems are going to arise unfortunately that means scot working out how to list a member as a trader and a thread that is specifically for them to promote Also there are others such as magazines , knife makers , foragers who do paid walks , who I would like to see able to sell :-) got me a hankering for a custom shroom knife :-) Who will make the forum a better place for all again needing trader status

I wouldn't worry too much about the workload, it's not like I'll be the only person with an eye on the forum. I think I get classed as admin as I've set up the site, and then I can assign moderators either globally or to specific boards, so as the site (hopefully) takes off, we can have tiers of people helping out.
As for traders, I think I've seen a setting for adding custom titles to people, so can probably add the trader tag to people. Although it does open up a whole new set of issues as you say.
Maybe we're thinking too far ahead of ourselves as to the problems happening. Maybe a sticky at the top of the forum advising that it is an outlet for individuals to sell on equipment etc. Any traders are allowed to have a post dedicated to their business interests which they can update with new produce etc, but not to flood the forum with different posts.
I'll add Herbal section when I've put the kids to bed. Like it.

What would a Herbal section actually be called? Herbal sounds wrong. Is it Herbalism? I'm blanking
