Looked like August was going to be all Agaricus. Lots of species though - with good hauls of A. arvensis and A. bitorquis especially. Some fairy ring maramius also went in to the basket early on. More recently been finding the occasional young shaggy parasol, a giant puffball, and the chicken of the woods has finally come. Saw a fine looking beefsteak. 30 feet up if its an inch and I'm not a fan anyway. So not a great deal of diversity here in Cambridge, but thats not unusual in my foraging grounds - I keep wondering where everything is, but its only August

Been an odd month here - Penny Buns everywhere, some big CoTW, a few hedgehogs and chanterelles and.......nothing else. At all. No russulae, agaricus, amanitas......The ground still also feels dry.

Everything seems to be starting my way but still a long way from being "hunting" season. 1 blusher, 1 tawny grisette, massive beefsteak (which proved to me beyond doubt I don't like it), cotw, few ceps, a few other bolete types not all of which I was certain on ID, oysters, couple of russulas (peppery tat) and that's it. Bit more variety than I've seen, but definitely looking forward to when the flushes come. Hoping for giant puffball to make puffburgers with and I miss parasol fritters. In fact I won't list everything I'm looking forward to, I don't know if emmac has stopped reading yet
